Energy label: what is it?

The energy label rates how energy efficient a building is, from A++++ to G, based on a fixed calculation method.

The energy label shows how energy efficient a building is. For commercial buildings in the Netherlands, the scale runs from A++++ to G. The label is calculated by a certified energy performance adviser, using the NTA 8800 method.

An energy label is mandatory when a building is sold, let or completed, and is valid for ten years. For offices, the label C requirement also applies.
