Offices
Smart and sustainable office buildings
Offices in the Netherlands must have at least energy label C, and tenants want a building where they can work pleasantly and sustainably. An office that is half empty but fully heated does not fit that picture. Smart systems that match climate and lighting to occupancy make the difference.
What we look at
Five points that make the difference.
Climate based on occupancy
Heating and cooling where people are, not in empty meeting rooms.
WiFi for everyone at once
Enough capacity for a full floor making video calls at the same time.
Energy per floor
Smart meters that show where the energy goes.
Secure networks
Building systems on their own network, separate from the tenants.
Ready for label A
A digital foundation that makes the next step in sustainability possible.
Does my office need energy label C?
In the Netherlands, office buildings have needed at least energy label C since 1 January 2023. There are exceptions, for example for listed buildings and for buildings where the office part is smaller than 100 square metres. Smart controls can help to achieve or keep the label. Read more about label C and smart systems.
How do I save energy in an office that is half empty?
Let climate and lighting respond to occupancy. Occupancy sensors and a building management system make sure empty rooms are not heated, cooled or lit. This only works if the systems are well connected.
Is office WiFi part of the IT-Label?
Yes. During an audit we measure the WiFi where people work, including when a full floor is on video calls at the same time. Both coverage and capacity count.
